276: Clarity Beats Confidence
Confidence gets praised but clarity does the real work.
Clarity is knowing what matters now and what does not. Without clarity, confidence can turn into a weakness.
Over-confidence can hinder your progress. You take on too much. You chase validation. You say yes to work that pulls you off course.
I have coached confident people that feel burned out. I have worked with clear people that quietly outperform them.
Clarity supports confidence. It sharpens trade-offs, and improves decision-making. It makes effort count.
You do not need a five-year plan. You need to have answers to three questions.
- What am I optimising for this month?
- What does real progress look like for me and my team?
- What am I deliberately ignoring?
Confidence usually follows clarity, not the other way around.
If you feel stuck, stop asking how to be unstuck. Start by asking what you need to ignore in order to stay focused.
What progress are you missing because you don't have clarity?
