Hi from Dublin, I'm Matt...

After a week on the road, it's great to be back in my home office writing Stuff. I hope this week's mail finds you safe and well, and most of all happy. I'm grateful for all the responses to Stuff #84, I'll be reaching out to setup our journaling challenge very soon!

Thank you for being a part of Stuff. If you received this email from an excellent friend, and would like to subscribe, please go here. If you'd like an archive of Stuff from the beginning of 2022 - it's here.

Do you love independent writing? I recommend The Sample. Every day, they will send you a novel newsletter you might like, no obligation.
  1. Monday Motivation:  Let this week be the one that we improve our feedback game.  I use (and coach) the Situation / Behaviour / Impact model - which allows you to construct your feedback in three simple steps.  Why does it matter?  High quality feedback is the fastest way to help someone get better.
  2. Your new superpower:  There are better ways of saying exactly what you think in an email.  This handy tool will help you find some of them.
  3. Essential Reading: Kevin Kelly is one of the most interesting people to follow on the internet - this week he turned 70 and shared 103 pieces of advice that are worth your time.  There is some real wisdom here, please don't pass up the opportunity to learn from KK.
  4. Take care: Ten practical ways to improve your happiness.   I'd add an eleventh to this list.   Practice Gratitude.
  5. TWIL:  There are nearly 2 billion websites on the internet, and the count increases every second.  Just check how many emails have been sent today alone!
  6. Look into my eyes:  Reveri is a clever app that will use the power of your own mind to heal and achieve.
  7. Compare the market:  This simple and clever site will help you compare search results across different engines.  Including the ones that don't track you or advertise to you - like duckduckgo or brave.  Note - this website uses no cookies to track, and a completely private way of seeing what links you click on.
  8. Everyone who ever lived: If you've ever wondered where you fit in the egg-timer of everyone who ever lived, the answer is here. Clue - the number is higher than you think
  9. Oh no! You've run out of water:  This excellent mini site, made by the Financial Times will help simulate how to manage the climate crisis.  It is not an easy problem to solve.
  10. Finally: Moviedle - another daily quiz that I have found both easy and impossible in turns.  Guess an entire movie that has been compressed to a 1-second clip.

My aural stuff for you this week is the outstanding new album from Röyksopp - Profound Mysteries. Röyksopp are from Tromsø in Norway and make some beautiful electronic music as well as partnering with some great vocalists for the lighter side. This new collection is a stunner, and has been on heavy rotation during my recent travels.

Listen to Röyksopp - Profound Mysteries on Spotify here.
