Media Gluttony - April 2024

This is very late this month, I thought I had posted it earlier but it remained in my drafts!

April movie watching was slow, but there was some excellent TV sprinkled into the media diet.

However, we got back into our cinema routine and saw some great (and not so great) movies.

Here's a roundup of my media diet in March 2024:

  • Argylle | ⭑⭑⭑½
Absurd but fun, spoof spy movie with Henry Cavill camping it up throughout. Good escapism
  • Three Body Problem | â‘â‘â‘â‘
Made my head spin at times, but a brilliantly epic science fiction series. Let down a little with a simplistic ending.
  • Baby Reindeer | ⭑⭑⭑⭑½
Everyone is talking about this 'based on real life' tale of a comedian and his stalker. Took me from WTF to wow over the season.
  • Ripley | â‘â‘â‘â‘â‘
Beautifully made and acted remake of the Talented Mr Ripley. Andrew Scott is superb, and supported by an excellent cast. Italy is the real star though, sumptuous scenery and sets.
  • Baltimore | â‘â‘â‘
Real life story of Rose Dugdale, who led an art theft in support of the IRA. Hitchcockesque direction and soundtrack coupled with a great performance by Imogen Poots.
  • Fallout | â‘â‘â‘
'Based on a video game' is never a great start for me, but watched this on recommendation of a friend. A vintage post-apocalyptic USA is a great setting for a fun adventure. Great soundtrack.
  • Civil War | ⭑⭑⭑⭑½
I really enjoyed this drama set in the US during a total societal breakdown, excellent performance from Kirstin Dunst and surrounding cast.

Three movies and four boxsets watched in April.
