#80 - Weeknote From Dublin
Updates
A milestone week for me, as after nearly forty years of employment, I have now set out as self-employed for the first time. On Monday I opened the calendar for my new coaching business - named unsurprisingly: Matt Rutherford Coaching.
I'll be delivering one-to-one coaching for anyone who is taking or planning the next step of their career and would like a sounding board. I am both nervous and excited simultaneously. Starting out on my own is a new experience but I know from the coaching work I have done so far (pro bono and at work) that everyone needs someone in their corner, and I can be that person.
Alongside launching the business, I've been writing and building. I know that a business doesn't get successful in a day or a week and I have plans to stay busy with other projects simultaneously.
Away from my projects, our quiz team continues to go well in this short season of 12 games, we're currently top of the division and on 10 straight wins. Everyone is playing well and with one good result we should see promotion for next season.
Finally on a personal level, I'm practising my barista skills every single day. My espresso shots are becoming more consistent, and I'm still working hard on my latte art on top. Thankfully, I have an appreciative audience at home, and an appetite for good coffee.

Recommended Music
This week I've been listening to a lot of folk-y music, particularly Johnny Flynn and my recommended album this week from June McDoom.
Apart from having an excellent name, June has a super voice - ethereal and dream like. The music on 'Follow the Light' supports this, and the songs are both pastoral and accessible but have an early-morning, liminal feel to them.
It's a super album that stands multiple listens.
Highly Recommended.
