#79 - Weeknote From Dublin

Updates

Sunday afternoon of a bank holiday weekend here in Ireland, and the clocks have fallen backwards signalling the arrival of what feels like real winter. We're also in the middle of two storms, and from my window I can see a fairly choppy and grey Killiney Bay.

This week, I've been pushing on with preparation for my (big) small business launch on 2nd November - mostly administrative tasks, but important to get ticked off.

My biggest win was recabling and resetting my desk layout to be a bit cleaner. It's something of a tradition that when I start a new job, I spend sometime getting my workspace 'just right' - and I'm please I've done it for both hardware and software this time. The final touch will be a microphone boom arm to give back a little bit more desk space and improve the mic sound quality.

Next week I can focus a little bit more on writing projects, and then some final checks before telling the world about what I'm doing and hoping that I'm doing it right!

Other updates from this week - the second session of my Team Coaching Course, and a good win for my Quiz Team on Wednesday. I sat out this weeks match to watch the football. Whilst Arsenal had a draw a Munich, the Mighty Atoms won well and now we're top of our division with a few games to play.

Reading. Focusing heavily on the key text book for my course, 'Coaching the Team at Work' by David Clutterbuck.

It's been another strong week for releases, and there is a strong connection to last weeks recommendation, Wilma by Daniele Luppi.

This week, I'm suggesting you give a listen to the new long player by Michael Kiwanuka, who has released his fifth solo album, FUDGE.

It's another outstanding release from the British singer, full of gentle laidback soul infused with beautiful melodies. There is an opening spoken word quote from Jazz musician Chick Corea that sets the tone.

Apparently this was recorded and ready for release in 2025, but Michael suffered a stroke and the release was postponed. I'm happy that we now have this gift of an album, and that Kiwanuka is recovered and ready to support the LP.

Highly Recommended.
