#78 - Weeknote From Dublin
My latte art is slowly getting closer to something recognisable.

Updates

Feels like I am back in rhythm with my weeknotes now. As I get ready to launch my new venture, having a pause once a week to collect my thoughts is good.

Focus this week has been putting many of the bits and pieces in place when starting a new business. I finished the Start Your Own Business course I was doing with the Local Enterprise Office. I learned well on the evening course, and I'd recommend it to anyone starting a venture here in Ireland.

The biggest win for me was having space to hear about what things needed to happen, and then making sure I had my own spin on them. Using tools (including AI) to automate some of the tasks makes them seem less daunting.

As that course finished, I started a Team Coaching diploma through Kingstown College. I met my cohort on Monday and we started straight into the work. There is a lot to cover, and a fair amount of effort that I'll need to put in along the way, including some reading and an essay alongside some peer work and labs. I'm excited by the prospect, and grateful that running my own business will give some space.

On Wednesday, my quiz team had another good win, taking us second in the table with four games left to play. Everyone played well.

Finally on the media front, we caught up with the final episodes of Ted Lasso S4, and we continue with Slow Horses. Both on Apple TV and very enjoyable in their own ways. We also had a quick trip to the cinema last weekend to see 'The Lost Children of Tuam', a telling of the mother and baby scandal in Ireland.

Reading. I posted a review of the Reverse Centaurs Guide to AI by Cory Doctorow. I haven't started anything else yet, as I suspect I'll have some text books to read!

This week has seen some great new releases, including the new album from Fontaines DC, Dopamine Chamber.

However, I'm recommending something altogether more relaxed, in the form of a short album called Wilma by Daniele Luppi.

Luppi is an Italian film composer, and has collaborated with some huge names including Dangermouse and Soulsavers. This time, he has drafted in Michael Kiwanuka for vocals on this soulful collection based on 1960s–1980s Italian film and TV score recordings.

Highly Recommended.
