Updates

I missed a week - we were travelling in the UK and I had no connection. We had an amazing weekend, involving a wedding at Queen Victorias Summer House, a tattoo, a Tracey Emin exhibition, a walk around Arsenals ground - and loads of sunshine and food in between.

In the prior week, we went to see the marvellous Glen Hansard in concert at Trinity College in Dublin. It was a fine evening in the sunshine.

In between all of this, I was formally laid off from Meta. It is bitter sweet - I knew I was going, and it's time, but of course I am sad. I'll be spending the rest of the summer figuring out what is next. The last time I was in between jobs, I started the newsletter, so I'm hoping something equally interesting comes out of this!

Reading. I finished the Future of Truth by Werner Herzog. I really enjoyed this short read on the nature of truth in a post-truth society. I like the idea of truth being less of a North Star and more of a direction of travel that gives our lives meaning. We need to make sure we are seeing through those that constantly shift what truth is. More complete review to follow.

This week, something delicate and delightful.

'Evergreen in your mind' is a gentle and beautiful album from Juni Habel a singer/songwriter from Norway. Who has pulled together this gossamer album with simple guitar and vocals.

If I had to compare, I'd liken the songs to Nick Drake - or maybe Vashti Bunyan - with a beautiful precision and economy of words.

Highly Recommended.
