#59 - From Tromsø
Updates
I’m writing this from my hotel room in Tromsø, Norway where I’m visiting this week. My recharge break from work is really starting with seven days above the arctic circle, seeing what adventures I can find. My son is arriving later on today, and we have some fun planned this week - check in next week for updates!
This week at home, I’ve been using the break productively - Mi grated some websites onto a new cloud server to consolidate and save some money - but also give me some scalability and new tools to play with.
I went to the cinema to see the excellent Palestine 36, a movie I think should be watched by anyone who wants to understand more about the country, the region and the origin of many of the current problems.
On Friday we went to the Museum of Literature Ireland for their ’First Friday’ evening, we got to browse the excellent museum space and see a reading from Dave Tynan.
The quiz team had a nice win on Wednesday - and I continued a good run of scoring - which was pleasing.
Reading. Leonard and Hungry Paul by Rónán Hession - I started this on the plane this morning, and so far so lovely.
Recommended Music
My recommendation this week is from a band I have been listening to for a long time. Glass Minds is the latest album from Archive.
Over the years, Archive have explored multiple genres and identities, always building and treading a fine line between multiple genres.
This collection is no different, electronics, beats and even some more post-rock sounds - all melded to some epic songs.
Highly recommended.
