#53 - From Dublin
Updates
This week has been wild!
As I write, the latest storm to hit Western Europe is on its way to me in Dublin. The Wind gusts are already pretty strong and its been raining for most of the day. Tonight (Saturday) should be fun!
Work has been busy, in the peak of the annual performance cycle there is a week of calibration meetings. I spent a large proportion of time on video conference with colleagues from around the organisation.
Away from work, I played a couple of of evenings of Quiz - with the Dublin Quiz League on Monday and then with my team in the Online Quiz League on Wednesday. Finally, I played the last round of the Brain of Music on Thursday night. I think I have finished about 50th in that tournament!
I also did some pretty good work making feature requests for my journalling app, startwriting.now and built a new webpage for my AirBnB property in Spain.
This week was a true portfolio week!
Reading. Every One Still Here by Liadan Ní Chuinn - an excellent book of Short Stories from an Irish Author.
Recommended Music
This album was an absolute slam-dunk to recommend. The latest release from Craven Faults is an electronic exploration of industrial infrastructure in the North of England.
'Sidings' is over an hour, of beautifully structured electronic sounds, almost organic in their journey from sometimes simple signatures and riffs, building up to multi-layered 'engines' of songs.
I love everything that Craven Faults has done, modern digital symphonies that are perfect listening for our time.
Highly Recommended
