#39 - from Dublin

Updates

Back to the weekly routine, but nice to have some autumnal Dublin sunshine to accompany me on my commute.

I was sad to see Claudia Cardinale die earlier in the week, an absolute beauty who is in my favourite film of all time - Fitzcarraldo.

Have spent a little bit of down time working on some new projects, and completed a list of improvements to make to existing work - startwriting.now continues to get some good traffic, and I have a plan for a V2 very soon.

Movies

Watched a couple of movies this weekend:

A ★★★½ review of Mr. Morgan’s Last Love (2013)
I didn’t love the extra romance at the end of this, and Michael Caines accent travelled around like a Greyhound bus. However the story is lovely - and Clemence Poesy is excellent.
A ★★★★ review of 28 Years Later (2025)
A peculiarly British horror/thriller. Jodie Comer is excellent and a great turn from Ralph Fiennes.

I've been trying for the last few weeks to listen to a new album every day, and sharing my favourites to Bluesky / Threads.

One of the best this week is The Importance of Birds by Snorri Halgrimsson, a modern classical piece inspired by the sounds of birdsong and a reflection on the fragility of life.

It's a stunning album, gentle and contemplative and ideal for background music whilst working or reading. I immediately added this to my Flowstuff playlist.

Highly recommended.
