#36 - From Spain

Updates

We've decamped to Spain for a couple of weeks. As the weather turned autumnal in Dublin, it felt like a good time to get some warmth on our bones, and get to work on a property project we have here.

I've been working on a good amount of new content for the site, some career related posts and a couple more book note posts which hopefully people will find useful.

Reading: Confessions of an Irish Rebel by Brendan Behan.

My musical recommendation this week is slightly unusual. Myles O'Reilly is a favourite artist of mine, making gentle electronica from his Dublin base.

For 'Against all Certainty' he's teamed up with the outgoing President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, for an album of poetry underpinned with beautiful ambient soundscapes.

It is lovely stuff, with Higgins reminiscing about people and places that he has met. The words are matched by the backing which feels organic through the use of tape loops and found sound.

Highly recommended.
