The World Health Organisation has recently declared that loneliness is a global health concern. I remember the last time we had one of those, there was plenty of action and concern on a daily basis.

So today, I'm asking you to get in touch with someone you haven't connected with for a while. I know that can feel awkward, so here are my suggestions for how you can break the ice:

Instructions:

  • Find a contact you miss.
  • Cut and paste one of these into your favourite messaging app.
  • Press Send.
  • Instant mental health outcome for both of you.
  1. "Hey, just thinking of you and wanted to see how you're doing. What's new in your world?"
  2. "Hi! I realized it's been a while since we last chatted. How are you holding up?"
  3. "Hey there! How's life treating you these days?"
  4. "Long time no speak! What have you been up to recently?"
  5. "Just a quick check-in: how's everything going with you?"
  6. "Hello! I hope you're doing well. Got any exciting news to share?"
  7. "Hey, I was just thinking about you. How's your day going?"
  8. "Ciao, just wanted to say hi and see how you're feeling these days."
