# The Shortest of Poems

It's National Poetry Day in the UK, and [Twitter ](http://twitter.com/mattr?ref=mattrutherford.co.uk)is full of posts tagged [#nationalpoetryday , ](https://twitter.com/search?q=%23NationalPoetryDay&src=tyah&ref=mattrutherford.co.uk)its nice that for just one day more people are thinking about poetry.

I only know two poems by heart, this one:

> “Come Home.” — George McDonald - The Sweetest and Shortest of Songs

And this one from school:

> “Einstein’s eyes were filled with tears  
> when he heard about Hiroshima.  
> Mr. Tamiki had no eyes left  
> to show his grief” — Colin Rowbotham
