# Media Gluttony - March 2024

In March, movie watching slowed down a little bit. Mainly due to a week away on a business trip and some good TV taking up some screen time. 

However, we got back into our cinema routine and saw some great (and not so great) movies.

Here's a roundup of my media diet in March 2024:

- **Perfect Days | ⭑⭑⭑⭑½**  
A beautiful study of taking joy from every day. Lots of tiny details that made my heart soar, coupled with excellent acting and a lovely soundtrack.
- **Past Lives | ⭑⭑⭑⭑**  
An unusual 'romance' split over 24 years, beautifully scripted and acted.
- **American Star | ⭑⭑⭑½**  
I didn't expect to enjoy this so much. An aged assassin played by Ian McShane, ends up on Fuerteventura for one more job. Everything is not as expected.
- **Dune | ⭑⭑⭑⭑½**  
Rewatched this before seeing the sequel. Still a masterpiece, easy on the eye, well-acted and with great SFX. Chalamet is superb and the soundtrack is masterful.
- **Dune II | ⭑⭑⭑⭑**  
Continuing where Dune left off, the story continues to be epic and the design and effects in part two are as good. A star off for some weird storyline breaks that jarred me, but still a great watch.
- **Wicked Little Letters | ⭑⭑⭑**  
This didn't live up to the expectations I had from the trailer. It is quite well written, and the story line is funny. I struggled with some of the casual racism and sexism in the script. Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley are great fun though.
- **Femme | ⭑⭑⭑½**  
Excellent independent film telling the story of a drag queen involved in an intense revenge plot. Excellently acted, super taut thriller.
- **Constellation (TV) | ⭑⭑⭑½**  
Epic space/science fiction tale involving quantum physics and more than an element of the supernatural. A bit confusing in places, but well-made and starring Noomi Rapace as .
- **The Gentleman (TV) | ⭑⭑⭑⭑**  
Very funny, glamorous romp from Guy Ritchie. Aristocratic (and hilarious) family find themselves embroiled in organised crime. Vinny Jones is superb as a taciturn gamekeeper. Great storylines throughout.
- **Gray (TV) | ⭑⭑⭑**  
Old spy returns from hibernation to root out a mole in a top-secret division of the CIA. Patricia Clarkson is *terrifyingly* sinister throughout this.
- **Masters of the Air (TV) | ⭑⭑⭑**  
World War 2 drama in the air, starring the impossibly handsome Austin Butler. Nicely acted, and well-made companion to Band of Brothers.
